Purpose of the role

The mission of this role is to lead and grow the offering of MLRO and regulatory advice services in Luxembourg. At its core you will act as responsable du contrôle (RC) for a range of client funds, but your role will be varied and you will be expected to be willing to undertake the many tasks that arise when part of a flexible consulting team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the delivery of the RC and regulatory advice service to Luxembourg clients;
  • Assume the RC function for both regulated and unregulated client investment funds as required and as per CSSF circular 18/698 (subject to the approval of the CSSF);
  • Assume AML roles for firms in other EU jurisdictions if appropriate;
  • Regularly attend board meetings for the governing bodies of said investment funds, providing reporting and updates on topics of anti-money laundering/counter terrorist financing;
  • Input into Business Development strategies to grow share of market in the Luxembourg;
  • Working with colleagues in other jurisdictions to implement group-wide processes and procedures for the operation of RC/MLRO/MLCO/CO prescribed roles;
  • Managing and overseeing the work undertaken by colleagues acting as RC on Luxembourg client structures ensuring enhanced processes are followed;
  • Managing client relationships (as required);
  • Assisting in, and leading, compliance reviews, assessments and documentation drafting (as required);
  • Understanding and summarising regulatory change and writing articles for our newsletters and/or client communications;
  • Participating in regulatory projects;
  • Taking part in and leading client visits, meetings and training sessions; and
  • Keeping up to date with current regulatory developments and informing clients as necessary.

Qualifications Required

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • University degree in finance/economics or law
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, with focus on the alternative investment fund sector
  • Excellent communication skills in English, with German being a considerable advantage
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently
  • Fast learner with strong analytical, methodical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experience with compliance technology such as screening and due diligence tools
